    Become familiar with the 2016 version of PowerPoint and learn how to create a presentation using themes, illustrations, transitions and animation.   7. Gulf Coast Reads Speaker: Dr. Steve Davis, Blue Themes

    October 25, 2018, 7:00 PM - 8:30 PM @ Deer Park Public Library

    The 2018 Gulf Coast Reads title is Bluebird Bluebird, by Attica Locke. It is a contemporary mystery set in East Texas featuring Darren Matthews, a black Texas Ranger who goes home to investigate two murders. A rural noir suffused with the unique music, color, and nuance of East Texas, Bluebird Bluebird, is an exhilarating, timely novel about the collision of race and justice in America. Print copies of the book are available at the Deer Park Public Library, as are audiobook, Large Print, and electronic editions. The library will host a book discussion on Tuesday, October 8, 2018, at 6 PM as part of the Mysteries and More Book Club. Readers can learn more about the blues themes of the book at a program presented by Dr. Steve Davis on Thursday, October 25 at 7 PM. Refreshments will be provided by the Friends of the Deer Park Public Library. No registration is required and all are welcome to attend.

  12. Teen: Halloween Zombie Attack!!

    Do you know what to do when Zombies attack!?! This year at the the Deer Park Public Library's annual Teen Halloween event we will be helping our Teens become better prepared to survive a Zombie Apocalypse. We will have a costume contest with prizes for both the Best Zombie and Best Victim/Non-Zombie. There will be food, games, crafts, and more.

  1. 45th Annual Halloween Carnival

    October 27, 2018, 2:00 PM - 5:00 PM @ Jimmy Burke Activity Center

    Free parking and free admission to this special event for the whole family. Put on your craziest and family-friendly costume and let the spirit move you to enter the costume contest, hop on some carnival rides or enter the pumpkin carving/decorating contest. There will be activities for the little ones including fun games in Pumpkin Town. You can stroll down the friendly community streets of Pumpkin Town from 2 - 5 p.m. for plenty of great carnival games.
